Birdathon – old
The Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory – St. Louis County Birdathon is a fun citizen-science event. It also serves as an important means of fundraising for the bird conservation research and education programs of Hawk Ridge. Birders of all levels of ability are invited to form or join one of the birding teams attempting to find as many species as possible in a 24-hour period. Or, you can compete in other categories, such as a Big Sit or the non-motorized division. Prizes will be awarded for each category.

SPECIAL NOTE: On Thursday, June 23, 2016, Laura Erickson and her team completed a Birdathon for a second year to help support the bird research & education programs of Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory. Her teammates included her birding dog, Pip, and friend Erik Bruhnke (birding tour guide, nature photographer, former Count Interpreter at Hawk Ridge). Their goal was to see 75 different species of birds and they smashed that goal with a grand total of 97 species!
