Adopt a Passerine
Thanks to funding from the Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation Biodiversity Fund, you can witness passerine “songbird” banding in action and have the opportunity to adopt.
Live bird demos & programs will take place this September & October 2012 at the Hawk Ridge Nature Reserve Main Overlook.
Please check the public program schedule or call 218-428-6209. If you are interested in becoming a passerine banding volunteer, please contact Banding Director, Frank Nicoletti at fnicoletti@hawkridge.org for more information.
Now you can adopt a passerine online:
Now you can participate vicariously in our banding program by
"adopting" a passerine after it is banded. For as little as $20, you can adopt an
individual passerine—a unique bird that you, and no one else, will sponsor.
Benefits of adopting a passerine online:
- Notification if your bird is recovered (date,
location & circumstances)
- You will be sent a certificate of adoption, a color photo, and information about the bird
- The satisfaction of
knowing you’re helping fund
important avian research and education.

$20 – Adopt a commonly captured species. Birds include: Black-capped chickadee, Blue Jay, American Robin, White-throated Sparrow, Nashville Warbler or Yellow-rumped Warbler.
|
|
$40 – Adopt a rarely captured species. |

NOTE: If you want to adopt &
release a bird during a visit to Hawk Ridge (September & October only), DO NOT ADOPT ONLINE; instead, visit our table at
the overlook and ask to be put on the waiting list. |
