Beginning in the summer of 2016, the Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory partnered with the Friends of Sax-Zim Bog for the “Bog to Ridge BioBlitz” special weekend. This is a fun, citizen-science event where all are invited to the Sax-Zim Bog one day and to Hawk Ridge Nature Reserve the next day to venture out with an expert naturalist(s) and see how many species of plants, birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, fungi, insects, etc. can be identified between two different sites! Both nature areas are explored in greater detail through hands-on learning via field id and walking discussion about topics as diverse as spiders and lichens, to sedges and birds! FREE To participate! Please see the summaries below from past BioBlitz events!
