Duluth Community Day and Everyone Can Bird Event at Hawk Ridge

October 14, 2023 @ 9:00 am – 3:30 pm

October is the month where the largest of our migrating raptors move through Hawk Ridge! Come out and join us for our fall Duluth Community Day Celebration at Hawk Ridge. A wide variety of family activities will be happening at the Ridge – measure your wingspan and see what bird you would be, make a bird mask, get banded like a bird, head off for a scavenger hunt on our trails, or just hang out and see what magnificent birds fly by! Join us for some scheduled programs, or explore on your own! A great time to make a visit and see what Hawk Ridge is all about! We will also be hosting an Everyone Can Bird Event from 9:30-11:30am open to birders of all abilities.

Scheduled Programs

9:30-11:30am: Everyone Can Bird- Designed with accessibility in mind, the event will provide American Sign Language interpretation, stationary birding options, binoculars and spotting scopes for use. Naturalists and birding guides will lead discussion and aid observation. The Friends of the Lake Superior Reserve, Hawk Ridge, Lake Superior Reserve, Wisconsin Sea Grant, Embark Supported Employment, and the Minnesota Land Trust are hosts for the “Everyone Can Bird” series. This event will also include a 10-11am: Eyes on the Skies Program (see description below), which will happen rain or shine, but other outdoor portions of the event may need to be canceled.
