Please join us for an inspirational & important evening in celebration and support for Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory. Enjoy a delicious dinner, cash bar, live education birds, book signing, nature & artwork fundraiser, Hawk Ridge Lifetime Achievement Award, and guest speaker. We’ll share highlights from the spring & fall bird migration, how your support makes a difference, and end the evening with a fantastic program “Owls: Souls of the Night” by Scott Weidensaul, ornithologist and author.

The Hawk Ridge Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to two recipients this year: Gail Marsman and Jeanne Filiatrault Laine. Gail and Jeanne are long-time Hawk Ridge Volunteers and friends. They started visiting Hawk Ridge together during their college years and spent time with founders, such as Dr. Pershing “Jack” Hofslund and Molly Evans. Visits have continued each fall with their children and grandchildren, as well as keeping involved as volunteers. If you’ve attended any of our Hawk Weekend Festival events, you will have met them running the registration table or helping sell merchandise. Hawk Ridge is proud to recognize Gail & Jeanne for their long-time service, passion and dedication to the organization.

Our guest speaker, Scott Weidensaul, is well known for his over 2 dozen books, including Living on the Wind: Across the Hemisphere with Migratory Birds, Peterson Reference Guide to Owls of North America and the Caribbean, and owl migration research through Project SNOWstorm and Project Owlnet (www.scottweidensaul.com).

Alexa Carson, local wildlife artist, will also be returning to our gala event with her beautiful bird artwork on display. Two of her paintings (Northern Saw-whet Owl, as shown, and a Long-eared Owl) are featured on our shirts in our Hawk Ridge merchandise trailer for sale in September & October. She paints wildlife native to the Midwest with acrylics on canvas and pages from antique books. Check out her work at alexacarson.com and meet her at the gala!
