Holly Erickson, Owl Bander

July 1, 2026 Comments Off on Holly Erickson, Owl Bander

Holly graduated from The Ohio State University and the OSU Ornithology Club in December, 2025, with a B.S. in Environment and Natural Resources (Forestry, Fisheries, and Wildlife Sciences). This year, she has sampled passerines and mosquitoes for West Nile Virus and Avian Influenza in central Ohio, monitored Golden-cheeked Warblers in Texas, and just finished a season of summer owl banding with Whitefish Point in Michigan. This is her third season of owl banding and first at Hawk Ridge. Holly is passionate about educating the public, encouraging excitement about birds, and teaching field methods; she is looking forward to a season focused on both banding and outreach. After spending two years of her childhood near the Twin Cities, she is thrilled to be back to her favorite part of Minnesota—the Lake Superior coast—to spend time with one of her favorite groups of birds—owls. Outside of banding and the field, she can be found birding, playing instruments, drawing, rollerblading, and hiking. She cannot wait to enjoy fall migration at the Ridge!
